Exploring rainbow colors

In the morning, some children were playing with various colored fruit flash cards on the board. There were Red, Orange, Blue and Green colors and it was a good time to learn about colors. I showed several short movies and songs about colors and prepared a table cover, smocks, various color paints and long construction paper. After watching movies, I showed them the colorful paints and made long lines with paints on the paper. I didn't give them any brushes or sponges so that they could feel the texture with their own hands. When they saw the paints lines, they hesitated touching them, so I encouraged them to play. "Look at the paints. we watched 'rainbow popsicles movie', and now we can see the colors here. Can we make the rainbow?"  Soon, they started exploring the colors. They touched paints with their hands and some children tried to taste them! >.<

After doing the activity, we made huge rainbow~

In the circle time, we red a book named of "Brown bear brown bear what do you see?" which is about to the colors. Children enjoyed the activity and learned some words of colors such as Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple.

A boy hesitated touching paints, but soon he started exploring colors.

A girl was so excited to touch paints. She observed her friends how they played and got used to playing with paints.

A boy touched the colors with his index finger. He talked to the color, "Red"

A girl stared her hands after touching several color paints..

Six toddlers fully involved in the activity and enjoyed painting. I expect this sensory activity will help children to develop their cognitive skills as well as fine motor skill.
